Welcome to Peviar

Peviar aims at developing a digital storage solution for archiving. The archived data will be safely kept over long periods of time (>100 years). Photographic film as well as microfilm will be used as storage media. Data will be represented using a two-dimensional barcode.

Our storage solutions has all the properties of conventional good storage technologies (highest possible storage density, error correction, hight reliability). In addition, Peviar provides data carriers with a very long lifespan (with appropriate maintenance strategies, photographic film can well be kept for up to 500 years) at a relatively low price (photographic technology is available and widely spread and, despite the rise of digital cameras, still in use). Photographic film also allows the placement of additional Information about the archived data that can be read by the human eye, such as preview images and information on coding and programming.
